1. The People You Get to Work With
It’s not every day that you get to work with not one, not two but three very successful business people. Not only is working with Charles, Jen and Jodi a great experience, it’s a great way to learn about how business works outside the classroom. Along with those three, you have the chance to learn from each of the entrepreneurs. They aren’t too far from where you currently are, so they are very easy to relate to and understand where you are coming from. I have loved working with them, and being able to give my input and have it be received and used is awesome!
The best thing about working in this environment is the other interns. I have made so many friends and have looked forward to going to work every day. We have the cream of the crop, and it makes for a productive, fast paced, collaborative atmosphere.
2. The Variety of Tasks and Industries You are Exposed to
I have taken almost every marketing class that my university has to offer. This summer, I have used all of those key marketing concepts and learned many more.
Seeing that most of the teams needed a different type of promotion, I decided to learn video editing and screen casting. Learning this new skill took a lot of time but has paid off. The videos I made or helped produce are now online being used as real advertising! This is a huge portfolio booster!
All of these videos are specific for each team, which is another really cool thing about this internship. I worked in several different fields because the companies are so diverse. Their target markets are all different, so they need IMCs (integrated marketing communication campaigns) specific to their industry.
3. It’s paid!
But really, IT’S PAID! Not only do you get this whole great experience, they pay you to do it! Not many internships are paid, so this is a refreshing bonus. Speaking of bonuses… we get bonuses. Let me repeat that again: We. Get. Bonuses. It’s awesome and nice to have an extra incentive to work as hard as you can for, because as much as it literally pays, it pays more in experience.
Picking FlashStarts has been one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made. I have made amazing connections, learned a ton, and made great friends.
