Bouncing Back!

Before I applied to this internship, I had just failed in a business competition (my friends and I were working on a project). Rather fortunately, I got this great chance to work with startups and have learned a lot this summer! During this amazing internship, I’ve learned to use WordPress and Rails to build websites, as well as research in brand strategy.

It was hard for me in the beginning, when I was just thrown into this new environment. Meeting new people and the worst thing—trying to get over jet lag caused by the flight from my hometown in China—made things difficult. Sounds terrible, right? Luckily, my colleagues and bosses helped me work through this and everything turned better afterwards. I enjoyed working with young and vigorous colleagues, and learned tons of new skills at my internship this summer.

Opportunities to Learn “Entrepreneurship”

As a developer who also has an interest in business development, I asked my boss what I could work on that could help her in those areas. She was awesome and helped me find some work that I could do, which ultimately gave me fantastic opportunities to explore more about myself and my future career life.

Also, the “Food for Thought” events were hugely beneficial! Before I came here, how to run startups and even what “entrepreneur” specifically meant were vague to me. But those helpful, significant and inspiring events gave me good understanding of entrepreneurship and did encourage me to become one in the future!

Come here and you will not regret it!
