What is your favorite part about working here?

The atmosphere was the best part! The other interns were motivated and fun people to be around.

Any advice for an incoming intern at FlashStarts? Anything you wish you knew?

Be prepared to be the “expert” in the room about something technology-related, even if you just started learning the framework/language only the week before. This means you have to be good at learning fast and also thinking on your feet.

How did you hear about this internship?

I heard about this internship from Cornell’s Student Career Services, and I was really interested in the idea of working with startups.

Describe your position to us.

I write code for any of the teams that needs code. I typically worked on front-end development, either for an actual software product or a company’s website.

What is the most challenging part about working here?

Working without the guidance of senior developers was the most challenging aspect of the internship. A lot of tasks are so much easier with just a few pointers from someone who’s coded and implemented something like it before, and we didn’t have that at FlashStarts. We learned a lot on our own, which was also a good thing.
