Shivang Desai, CEO of The BranDR, sat down with us to describe what brought him to FlashStarts and what he’s been learning.

The BranDR helps physicians create and maintain their personal brand identities online. Its mission is to revolutionize the way patients find, select and interact with their doctors, by allowing them to access personalized doctor profiles.
What attracted to you to FlashStarts?
I found out about FlashStarts from a professor at business school at Case Western Reserve. I checked out the website, and I saw an image on the website that said “this is how left brain people think, and this is how right (creative) brain people think, if the right brain makes more sense to you—apply!” and I really liked that picture! I then came in to the office to have a conversation with Jen and Charles about a couple of ideas that I had. At first I did not apply for FlashStarts when I came in for the talk, however, Charles and Jen liked my ideas, and at the end of the chat and Charles pitched me his idea, and asked me if I wanted to take it over. After considering it, seeing that the market opportunity was good, I decided to go ahead and accept, and here I am!
What are you and your team working on right now?
We are working on developing an automated website creation for the clients who have signed on with us, as long as bringing on new clients.
What has been your biggest challenge?
I have no compliance of technology, something always manages to go wrong with my technology, and that has been a huge challenge for me so far!
Has anything surprised you about being here?
I knew it would be laid back here at the office, but I didn’t know how laid back it would be, and that has been a pleasant surprise! The work the environment here is very laid back and it fosters great work.
Any last words?
Everyday is incredibly frustrating as I’m going through it, but when I look back on the days, it has really been amazingly fun!
