Lack of free time coupled with the high cost of babysitters was enough to make Audrey Wallace and Amy Husted search for a better solution. The result is Komae – a babysitting exchange app.
Komae allows you to connect with your trusted friends and family and trade babysitting in exchange for Komae points. Because the app uses an internally regulated cash-free ecosystem, there is no cost to a babysitter. Instead, you earn Komae points when you babysit your friends’ children and “pay” points when someone in your village babysits your children. With Komae, you get time off when you need it, your kids get playdates with friends, and your family strengthens their community connection.

Audrey Wallace and Amy Husted, the co-founders of Komae, both graduated from Baldwin Wallace University and each have two young sons who helped inspire Komae. According to the founders, Audrey perceives possibilities, initiates change, creates connections, and builds vivid images of the positive impact Komae will have on people,” while Amy “brings a strategic and organized mind to the execution of the Komae vision.” This duo is joined by their husbands, Gary Wallace and Andrew Husted, who provide the technological strategy and architecture for the app.
